Fanny Fievez’s PhD defence presentationCongratulations to Fanny Fievez, who successfully defended her PhD thesis titled “How urgency shapes motor behavior” in April 2024.
Achievement
Her achievement is a testament to years of hard work, determination, and dedication. Throughout her doctoral studies, Fanny conducted groundbreaking research on the neural mechanisms underlying how urgency influences motor behavior and decision-making processes.
Future Endeavors
We wish Dr. Fievez all the best for all her future endeavors. Her research contributions to the CoActions Lab have been invaluable, and we look forward to seeing her continued success in neuroscience research.
This milestone represents the culmination of her scientific journey and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her career!

Research broadly explores a range of questions pertaining to the cognitive neuroscience of human behavior. Conduct experiments to explore the interaction between cognition and action in neurologically healthy and impaired individuals. Use a variety of techniques to characterize the functional role of different parts of the motor pathways, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and electroencephalography (EEG). Recent research investigates the role of the locus coeruleus in various aspects of action control, including reaching movement control, decision making, and behavioral vigor, using transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) to causally probe this neuromodulatory system.
