The Motivational and Cognitive Control 2026 conference displayed in Helsinki.Thibault and Fostine had the opportunity to attend the Motivational and Cognitive Control 2026 meeting in Helsinki! They presented their latest research through scientific posters and enjoyed a week of inspiring discussions and exchanges with researchers from the field.

Fostine completed her Master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at Université de Caen Normandie and joined the CoActions Lab in early 2023 to pursue a PhD. Her research focuses on decision urgency and its two forms of regulation, one primarily driven by cognitive control and the other by reward. Her work combines behavioral and neurophysiological approaches, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), to investigate how these mechanisms are expressed within the motor system and how they vary as a function of individual differences in impulsivity, both in healthy individuals and pathological gamblers.

Thibault is an MD currently specializing in neurology at UCLouvain since 2020. After 2 years of clinical training, he joined the coactions lab on October 1st 2022 to start a PhD. He intends to focus on how reward, which induces “WANTING”, interacts with cognitive control, which allows “CAUTION”, to shape urgency during decision making; using neurophysiological tools and MRI (tractography). He will work with healthy subjects and patients with Parkinson’s disease to better understand this interaction.
