The whole lab was out at an amusement park to end the academic year (2017-2018). The day was followed by a BBQ party at Simon’s place! We had great fun!

For 19 years, the L'Oréal Foundation has been committed, alongside UNESCO, to increasing the presence of women in scientific research. Every two years, this funding program awards three young female researchers, working in the domain of life sciences. By awarding prizes and scholarships, the L’Oréal-UNESCO foundation wants to encourage and support the careers of the most promising women scientists.
The 10th Belgian Reward Ceremony for the L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science” grants took place on Thursday October 5th 2017 at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo. Emmanuelle Wilhelm was one of this year’s laureates, along with Aurélie de Groote (ULB) and Mieke Metzemaekers (KULeuven). All of them are at the beginning of their PhD thesis and had been previously selected by the “Fond de la Recherche Scientifique” (FNRS) or the “Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek” (FWO).

Andrea Alamia (1st from the left) presented his PhD thesis entitled “Unconscious learning: behavioral evidence, relationship with attention and physiological markers” on September 11th 2017. His scientific achievements are impressive. He just started a post-doc at the University of Toulouse (Brain & Cognition Research Center). Congratulation!

Emmanuelle Wilhelm (2nd on the left) received a 4-year FNRS grant to complete her PhD in the CoActions Lab, under the supervision of Julie Duque (3rd on the left). Gerard Derosiere (1st on the right) and Caroline Quoilin (1st on the left) were awarded a 3-year FNRS post-doctoral fellowship. Julien Grandjean (2nd on the right) is a PhD student supported by a FRIA funding. These awards were celebrated at the restaurant “Le Mucha” in Brussels.
